Tomorrow we celebrate our nation's independence, but today we get to celebrate our beautiful state's birthday!

On July 3rd, 1890, Idaho became the 43rd state to join the United States of America.

A short history lesson. In the mid 1800's, settlers flocked to the Pacific Northwest after the massive gold rush. The Dakotas, Idaho, Washington and Oregon were all hot spots. By 1880, Idaho had a population of over 32,000 people, and at the time the capitol was actually Lewiston.

Now Idaho is famous for all kinds of things. Potatoes. Top ten lists. Aaron Paul. So you go, Idaho! Happy 126th birthday. We tried to fit 126 candles on one of those Albertsons birthday cakes, but we were told it was a fired hazard.
