For some households, it's an annual Halloween tradition. You've got a bowl of candy set out for the kids, so they can pick their favorite treat after showing off their costume. And, for the adults accompanying the kids, a cooler of beers.

The question isn't should you or shouldn't you share beers with your adult neighbors on Halloween this year. The question is...is it legal?

Handing out beers to 21+ friends on Halloween night...will it land you in the slammer?

Best we can tell, as long as you use just a pinch of common sense, no.

Are there actual, set laws that legally prevent you from handing out alcoholic beverages in your driveway? If there are, we weren't able to locate them. And, if they exist, you're really only looking at any kind of trouble if a Karen comes by, calls the police, they show up, and deem you a public nuisance for getting your entire neighborhood plastered.

A couple things:

  • DO NOT give alcohol to minors. Full stop.
  • Be mindful if any 21+ folks you give alcohol to are planning to drive after trick-or-treating

Handing out a cold one on All Hallow's Eve sounds fine to us, as long as you use your noggin.

If you are indeed heading out for Halloween, be careful out there! Sure, it's a night for fun and candy, but you still want to use caution.

Nothing will bring your Halloween festivities to a grinding halt like an unexpected...incident.
