A Northern Idaho family found themselves locked in a cemetery while visiting the grave of their 3-year-old son that passed away eight years ago.

According to KTVB, the family's late son was born on the 4th of July and their family watches the fireworks from the grass near his headstone after a small birthday party with cupcakes.

This year, they were surprised when a Coeur d'Alene city employee told them they couldn't enter the cemetery because it had closed for the night.  He allegedly told them to get out and that he was locking the gate.  The family asked to stay long enough to leave flowers at the little boy's grave and were stunned when the employee did lock the gate, leaving them trapped in the cemetery.

They were trapped there until a supervisor arrived and let them out.  After the incident the parks director did call the family to apologize and explain their employees were asked to lock cemeteries this year so that people wouldn't light off fireworks inside.
