Front Plates No Longer Required On (Some) Idaho Vehicles

Why aren't more people talking about how hideous front license plates are on cars? We really should.

They look like a big clown nose on the front of your otherwise-would-be-attractive vehicle. Completely ruins the aesthetic, looks like butt, and nobody likes them.

Welp, good news! You don't have to them on your vehicle in Idaho anymore!

No more front license plates on Idaho cars? Sweet!

Hol' up now, lil' britches. We didn't quite say all that.

A new law passed this year in Idaho says that you don't need to display a front license plate on your vehicle...if it doesn't have a front license plate bracket installed.

So, for those playing at home:

• No front bracket = No front license plate required
• Front bracket = Front license plate required

Get it? It is pretty simple, really.

However, even if you only require one, you'll still be issued two license plates. Britt Rosenthal of the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles explains:

You’re going to get two plates no matter whether your car needs one or two. A lot of cars nowadays are electric or hybrid and don’t come with a bracket, so rather than forcing people to potentially compromise the front of their car, they’re just not required to have a plate if it doesn’t have a place for it.

So don't go thinking you can drive around without front license plate in that front bracket.

We literally just told you that's against the rules. Come on.
