Pause!

If you're heading into the DMV to take care of some vehicle-related business, you're going to want to read this real quick.

What changes are happening at the Idaho DMV?

Well, several, actually! While most of these are minor changes, you're going to want to be up on what they're up to now:

  • The "Don't Tread On Me" Idaho license plate will now look slightly different
  • The "World Famous Potatoes" plate will now be offered in two different color options
  • For vehicles that do not possess a front bracket, a front license plate is no longer required, but drivers will still be issued two plates

There are also additional changes coming to instruction permits and motorcycle endorsement permits as well. The full list of changes can be found here.

According to DMV Administrator Lisa McClellan, it's all in an effort to bring the Idaho DMV into the modern age:

These legislative updates help modernize our systems, enhance access to DMV services, and give Idahoans more choices, from how they register to what they display on their bumpers. We’re committed to rolling out these changes with as much clarity and convenience as possible.
