There's a 50 square-mile area of Idaho where a person could legally get away with murder due to a loophole in federal policy.

We're not making this up.

They call it the "Zone of Death" and it lies in small part of Yellowstone National Park that spills over into Idaho. Brian Kalt, a Michigan State University law professor, wrote a paper on it pointing out that the area has sloppy jurisdictional boundaries, which could mean the state and federal government wouldn't be able to prosecute major crimes that take place there.

Even though government officials have been aware of the issue for years, they still have yet to make any changes to the policy. Kalt says while crime may or may not be legal in the Zone of Death, committing a crime there would prove difficult since the area is only accessible by hiking.
