Then there's the kind of accident that goes unnoticed, completely off your radar. For instance, you had no idea it was your 100-page color copy job that drained the last of the office printer ink. You never meant to leave your coworkers high and dry for the rest of the day, so you'll never know it was you. Oops.

Few things are more cringey than the old slip-of-the-tongue. One moment you're catching up with coworker buddies in the employee lounge, then BAM! Someone within earshot hears you make an off-color joke or sly remark that offends them. And just like that, you're pulled into an HR meeting.

Sometimes it's a cultural oopsie.

You thought it was okay to adopt a word, a phrase, or a custom from your friend's awesome culture. Sorry, sunshine. It wasn't.

Unfortunately, it's an experience many of our local Hawaiian natives go through every day. Before the "snowflake" remarks and emails rain down on me, you should know that they're not ones to "whine" about their mistreatment.

Rarely, if ever, do they call someone out or correct them for appropriating their culture or stereotyping them. It happens to be that very close friends of mine are local Hawaiian natives. When I asked them about the things Idahoans have done that offended them, it was like pulling teeth getting them to answer.
