Meet The 3 Idahoans Competing In The Tokyo Paralympics

The Paralympics in Tokyo are on, running now through Sunday, September 5th. Meet the three Idahoans competing this year!

Paralympics are the biggest sports competition in the world for athletes with disabilities. Now there are the special olympics, and there are the Paralympics which are actually two different things. Paralympics are defined on the special olympics' website as: "Paralympics welcomes athletes from six main disability categories: amputee, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, visually impaired, spinal injuries and Les Autres (French for "the others", a category that includes conditions that do not fall into the categories mentioned before). To participate in the Paralympic Games, athletes must fulfill certain criteria and meet certain qualifying standards in order to be eligible."

Excitingly enough, we have three Idahoans competing in the 2021 Paralympics, let's meet them!

Dani Aravich was born without her left hand and forearm, but this hasn't held her back as she'll be competing in the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field team in the 400m spirit
Will Groulx: Will was in a motorcycle accident that paralyzed him from the chest down back in 2001 but this year will be competing in the U.S. Paralympics cycling team.
Kory Puderbaugh: "born with congenital limb deficiencies in all four limbs", this year will compete (again) on the U.S. Paralympics wheelchair rugby team. He's won a silver before, and this year, he's going for the gold!
