My Top 5 Pick-Me-Ups
Some days we wake up on the wrong side of the bed for absolutely no reason. I'm a big believer in choosing to be happy even if my day doesn't start out right. Along the way, I've found 5 go-to pick me ups that help lift my mood. Of course, these 5 suggestions aren't groundbreaking but they truly do help me break out of a 'funk' sometimes. And now I want to share them with you!
1. Going for a Walk on the Green Belt
I'm no doctor, but I believe there's something powerful about getting outside and breathing fresh air. It helps circulate blood flow and can help our endorphins start flowing with a power walk. The Green Belt has undeniable beauty and smells so fresh, it always helps lift my spirits.
2. Grabbing a Tea from the Coffee Shop
My favorite drink now that it's becoming fall is hot tea from Starbucks, specifically the Citrus Defender with a pump of peppermint. It's soothing, calming, and the peppermint opens up my airways a bit.
3. Essential Oils
Speaking of opening up airways, I have found Essential Oils to be a powerful mood enhancer. My favorites are Eucalyptus and Lavender. They help relax and center my mind when it's running a million miles an hour.
4. Listen to a Podcast
On my drive in to work in the morning, or even on my lunch break I take time to listen to a podcast focused on health and lifestyle. It helps to keep my mind focused on something besides stress, and 9/10 I learn something positive and impactful.
5. Drink a Big Bottle of Water
This may sound obvious, but more often than not we aren't as hydrated as we need to be to function at 100%. When I wake up in a fog or am feeling crabby I will down 30oz of cool water and keep another bottle handy nearby. Try drinking more water each day to ensure you are hydrated and I assure you your mood will improve just by feeling better physically!
