When you hear the word "slavery" you think it's something that ended here in the United States around the time of the Civil War, but the truth is when it was made illegal it didn't disappear.

It became a black market trade.  That black market is called "human trafficking" and there are approximately 60,000 slaves inside the United States.  That might sound shocking, but more shocking is that Boise's population and location make it a perfect route to West Coast trafficking destinations.

That's why our friend Tatiana, her husband Preston and their volunteers from the Abolitionist Movement are standing outside in the cold, inversion weather for 27 hours beginning at 11 AM on Friday,  Their Stand Up For Freedom represents one hour for every one million people enslaved.  You can find them near Five Guys and Urban Outfitters in Downtown Boise to learn more about Human Trafficking and how it affects you, your life and your kids.

Tatiana told us this morning that often teens and more often child are often coerced into forced labor or sexual exploitations under the impression that their kidnappers with expose what they're involved in with pictures or will hurt their families.  Many of these teens are runaways and statistics show that 1 in 3 runaways are contacted by a human trafficker within the first 48 away from their homes.

For more on human trafficking go see Tatiana and the Abolitionist Movement this weekend or visit their WEBSITE or FACEBOOK PAGE.
