Star of CMT’s Nashville Coming to Treasure Valley
There's a handful of shows that I absolutely refuse to miss every week and I was so bummed when I thought one of them was getting canceled!
During the regular TV season my friends know that at my apartment Mondays are for the Bachelorette, Wednesdays are for Designated Survivor and Archer and Thursdays are for Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and Nashville. Those shoes are my escape from the busy work day and I have a deep love for the characters on all of them. It shouldn't surprise you that I was absolutely devastated when ABC cancelled Nashville in May 2016.
I mean how could they end the series with a main character's life hanging in the balance after a plane crash? Fans would've driven themselves crazy wondering if Hayden Panettiere's character, Juliette Barnes, unwillingly left her infant daughter motherless. Thankfully, CMT was able to find a place for the show on cable!
The cable network picked up right where ABC left off. In the aftermath of Juliette's plane crash, she finds herself as the crash's only survivor and is left potentially paralyzed in a field outside of Nashville. A local church choir member named Hallie Jordan sees the crash and rescues Juliette.
And that's where the Treasure Valley connection happens! Hallie Jordan's character is brought to life by folk, bluegrass, country and gospel singer, Rhiannon Giddens and Giddens just so happens to be coming to the Treasure Valley in a few weeks! She'll be performing Monday, August 14 at 8 p.m. at The Egyptian. Ticket prices range from $27.50 to $33 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
By the way, if you're not a Nashville fan, but you like Eric Church, you may have heard Rhiannon's voice before! "Kill a Word" is one of my favorite songs on his Mr. Misunderstood album but I never knew who the female vocalist on it was. Turns out, it's none other than Hallie Jordan/Rhiannon Giddens.
