I know we live in an great city but I find it hard to believe that the number one criminal concern in Boise is traffic offenses. I would think that breaking and entering, robbery, violence would be all be ahead of traffic offenses but that's just one persons opinion. According to the Police Department this survey was conducted in 2018 and ktvb also shared the following Boise traffic stats.

"There are around 4,000 traffic accidents in Boise every year," Boise Police Chief Mike Masterson said in a statement. "It's up to all of us to make our roads a safe place for all road users."

Officers issued more than 30,000 traffic citations in 2019.

"The driving behaviors that concern us the most are distracted and aggressive driving," Corporal Kyle Wills said. "We really encourage residents to buckle up, put down the distractions, and drive safely so that we all make it home."

So what does all this mean for Boise drivers and the Police department? It means nothing if you NEVER break a single traffic law ever again in your life, not even by accident. If that moment when your kid is screaming in the backseat and you reach back to give them their bottle and you accidentally go over the speed limit never happens, you have nothing to worry about. Other than that know that the Police department has made a commitment to focus more on traffic safety in 2020. I don't know if this is about generating revenue or if we as citizens are violating our privileges and we need to be checked.
