Ponderosa State Park in McCall is one of my favorite spots to clear my mind and enjoy the amazing outdoors that Idaho has to offer. In the summer I love taking the trail that goes past the hidden cove where a sailboat is frequently anchored, the tranquility of that specific place is worth the 200 mile round trip from Boise. My other favorite spot is the bench at the top of the trail, the view back towards McCall is breathtaking. I' m disappointed to learn that 3 out of 4 people are not paying the $5 park fee used to maintain that beautiful space. Here is what the Idaho Department of Parks wrote in a release:

"Between campground closures and switching to a new registration system, the department's reliance on entrance fees has grown at a time that less people are contributing,"

"We cannot maintain the parks efficiently throughout the year with nearly 75 percent of daily visitors avoiding entrance fees."

Do the right thing and protect these amazing places so that generations to come can enjoy them as much as we do.
