It's been talked about for months now, and the day is finally here. Millions of people who RSVP'd on Facebook and pledged to storm Area 51 are headed to Nevada or already arrived.

Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee estimates that some 1,500 visitors arrived in the tiny Nevada desert towns of Hiko and Rachel on Thursday to participate in a weekend's worth of activities dedicated to the once-secret Area 51 military base, which, as the AP notes, has fueled speculation about government studies of aliens and UFOs.

A music festival is already underway near the Little A'Le'Inn in Rachel, while the Air Force has issued warnings for people not to try and enter the Nevada Test and Training Range, where Area 51 is located.

The weekend, which features a competing music festival in Las Vegas, was inspired by an internet hoax to "see them aliens," which local officials feared could inspire a flood of people storming the gates of Area 51.

Are there actually aliens or UFOs at Area 51? I'm skeptical. I don't like to even put my brain through the process of thinking about the extraterrestrial. It's not my scene. I don't want to invite that energy into my life.

I know a few people who *claimed* they would head to NV for the storm, but they aren't. Thankfully. I'll be for sure reading up on it over the weekend though.
