As we near the end of 2019 and people buy more and more devices from Black Friday and cyber Monday deals, how many devices do you currently have in your home? Thinking about my own personal home, I've got my phone, my smart TV, a tablet, two lap tops, an Alexa and a Google Home. I think that's it off the top, so that's seven connected devices for one person. And I'm not alone.

According to a new report issued by Deloitte, each U.S. household contains 11 connected devices, on average--seven of which have screens.

And as Variety reports, that figure is likely to grow "as 5G takes flight in 2020 and beyond." Once that lightning-fast connection speed becomes more commonplace, "we're going to see an explosion of connected devices in the home--and in your car and on your body," says Kevin Westcott, Deloitte's vice chairman, who adds that he expects 5G to be "transformational...because of its instantaneous connectivity."

I don't know much about the difference between 5G and what we currently have, or what a device on your body looks like (are they just talking about phones?!) but I don't know how many more connected devices I could personally use or want. I feel like I'm never 'off' because anyone can reach you at anytime. That sounds nice until you just want personal space and you have that 'unread text' notification popping up on your phone and giving you anxiety over who you haven't gotten back to yet.

How many connected devices do you have in your home? Do you see yourself getting or needing more?
