Growing up here in Boise, exposure to the Basque culture was an everyday thing for me. As I grown older and traveled, however-- I've learned a lot of people have never even HEARD of the word "Basque"--let alone are they familiar with how large of a presence the culture has right here in Boise, Idaho.

When I found out that tomorrow is National Paella Day, I couldn't help but get a little excited about a food I haven't had in way too long. If you've never made it down to the Basque Block in downtown Boise for some of this one of a kind dish, you need to chalk that up towards the top of your to-do list.

Paella is a rice dish that has all sorts of spices and flavor with shrimp, chicken, and chorizo in it. The best place to get it in Boise? The Basque Market, right between Capitol and 6th!

Now, after doing some research I see they serve it on the patio on Wednesday's and Friday's at noon. If you have a lunch break take note. You may as well make it a Paella Week!

The Basque Market also offers Paella Dinners (every Thursday) as well as catering and even take-home Paella (with a 24-hour notice).  For more on this, click HERE.
