Feature Film Shoot Brings Baby Daddy Star to Treasure Valley; What You Need to Know About Marbles [VIDEO]
A few weeks ago, I had the chance to be part of something very cool - the first ever Treasure Valley Comic Con at the Nampa Civic Center.
I don't think any of us knew exactly what to expect the first night we showed up at Comic Con. There were some huge names on the list for year one like Peyton Wich and Randy Hanvens from Stranger Things, Lois Lane herself, Margot Kidder and one of your favorite characters from King Ezekiel's "Kingdom" on AMC's The Walking Dead, Cooper Andrews...all actors and actresses who love doing Q&A sessions with their fans.
By some miracle, the team from the station got lucky enough to host those Q&A panels and catch a couple of minutes with the stars afterwards! I got the chance to host Kyle XY star, April Matson's panel on the final day of Comic Con and she shared something with the audience that I had absolutely no clue about! April not only calls Boise her home, she also owns an acting studio here in the Treasure Valley! Through one of the writing classes at the studio, Platform Boise, she had the chance to meet Boise High grade, Matt Dominick. Matt had an idea for a movie for a more comedic look at a man's first steps of recovery from addiction.
By the time he was done working on the script (now called Marbles,) April loved it so much that she said "let's shoot it and let's shoot it in Boise!" From there the ball started rolling. Her former Kyle XY co-stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau (who you may know as Ben from Freeform's Baby Daddy) and Matt Dallas are on board for it and the movie officially starts filming in the Treasure Valley next spring.
Bilodeau was in the Treasure Valley last week to star in the teaser video the crew is producing about the film. It'll also be part of a crowdfunding campaign to help make Marbles a hit. He, Matson and Dominick took some time to chat by the Boise River about the film and what its like working together again after eight years. (Bilodeau also tells us the truth about the picture of "The Torch" on his Instagram account.)
