The announcement of FDA approval on a third COVID-19 vaccine seems to have put a lot of people at ease and that includes public officials. The Governor of Texas has decided to open up the state, basically all businesses can re-open and all mask mandates are gone. Locally Mayor McLean made and announcement of her own. In collaboration with the Central Health District the Mayor has come up with a process that will allow for gatherings of 50 or more people. Yes face coverings and social distancing (the six feet rule ) will still be required. Residents will be required to submit a health and safety plan which will be reviewed and approved with possible recommendations by the Central Health District.

"I'm excited to offer a path for people to return safely to the events we've missed so much over the last year," McLean said in a ktvb interview. "I want to thank Central District Health for partnering with us, our local healthcare providers, regional partners, the business community, and especially our residents for helping us to slow the spread of COVID-19. The end is in sight, but as we begin to return to normal, we must all stay vigilant to ensure we don't lose the gains we've made over the last few months."

Weddings, large birthday parties, graduation gatherings these will all be possible with the correct amount of planning. Frankly I'm glad we're not moving as fast as Texas but at the same time I'm really glad to be moving in the right direction.
