A lot of people don't even know it, but Halsey is biracial. She's actually half white, and half black.

And now she's explaining why she rarely includes herself when talking about black people:

“I'm white-passing. It’s not my place to say ‘we.’ It’s my place to help. I am in pain for my family, but nobody is gonna kill me based on my skin color. I’ve always been proud of who I am, but it’d be an absolute disservice to say ‘we’ when I’m not susceptible to the same violence."

Halsey said this after someone tweeted in a tweet and delete:

“Notice how @Halsey never claims her black side... This is why I will NEVER support her. On her post she says, 'Let black people speak,’ not, 'Let our people speak.’"

Halsey went to one of the Black Lives Matter marches in LA over the weekend and helped give medical treatment to protestors who got injured in the protests and riots.

I love where she's coming from. She sees her white privilege, even as a woman of color herself. These are the uncomfortable conversations that need to be had in order to make changes.

We'll discuss more in the Tea on the morning show tomorrow at 6:50 and 8:50a.
