How I Accidentally Caused A Fight At The Grocery Store
While I minded my own business, doing some simple grocery shopping, drama found me. This is the kind of scene that just a few months back wouldn't have existed. Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, we now have specific standards that are supposed to be upheld. When I got to the store, I had one goal: Get what I needed to make tacos as quickly as possible to make it home before my show started. Little did I know what would happen next.
My list was short: Taco Seasoning, one pound of 95% lean ground beef, soft taco tortillas, and Mexican Blend Cheese. I got the cheese, the tortillas, and the seasoning. As I turned to head for the beef, I may have become responsible for the end of a marriage. A very nice elderly couple was walking towards me with a cart full of groceries. The man had admiration in his eyes while his wife looked at me with disgust. He then pointed out to me that I was walking up the aisle that was marked to go in the other direction.
I didn't want to discuss how the beef that I wanted was just a few feet away and that it would be inconvenient to go all the way down the aisle only to come back up the next. I didn't want to take even more time to explain that my show was about to start and that I didn't set the DVR. Instead, I just apologized, and as I turned to go in the other direction, the man said to me, "Good for you! I think it's crazy." So, I laughed it off and went towards the ground beef when I heard his wife get angry with him for siding with me.
I don't know who this man was, but I want to apologize for any trouble I may have caused. To his wife, I'm sorry that I was rude and didn't respect the signs, therefore disrespecting you, who was just trying to be safe. In case you're wondering, I did make it home in time for my show, and the tacos were great!
