Idaho Is Still Growing Extremely Fast. Anyone Surprised?
Ask anyone outside of Idaho what they actually know about Idaho, and they'll probably give you some half-correct answer that somehow involves potatoes.
Ask anyone in Idaho the exact same question, and they're bound to give you one answer and one answer only: Idaho is growing way too fast for their liking.
We've heard it 1,000 times about how Boise is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. Well, guess what? Idaho as a whole is experiencing those same growing pains!
From 2020 to 2021, Idaho was the fastest growing state in the country based on how many new people move here every year. That year alone, over 53,000 people moved to Idaho, adding up to a 2.9% growth in population. Those are pretty insane numbers.
2022 to 2023 isn't much different. Idaho is still one of the five fastest-growing states in the U.S., with around 35,000 Americans relocating to make Idaho their new home.
Idaho is way ahead of the curve on this statistic. Overall, the U.S. experienced just over .5% population increase in 2022, meaning Idaho is significantly outpacing most other states, and the country as a whole, when it comes to new residents.
The weirdest part after reading all that is just how little Idaho makes up of the entire population of the United States. Only about one half of one percent of the 335 million people living in the U.S. call Idaho home. So, while we're definitely cramming people in at breakneck speed, we're still not even close to having near as many people here as some neighboring states.
