Here's the thing about solar panels: They're powered by solar. Meaning, the sun.

If the sun can't reach the solar panels, said solar panels can't power your home. See where we're going with this?

I have solar powering my home, and am currently reading this article by candlelight. What the hell is going on?

Blame it on the inversion, girl.

Approximately 14,000 Idaho homes are noticing an overall decrease in their available power the past few weeks. The reason? This weather inversion that's practically blocking out the sun here in the Treasure Valley. No sun rays hitting your solar panels = No power for your home.

Unfortunately, some Idaho home use solar as their sole power source, and some homes are even blacked-out currently due to a lack of solar power.

According to Idaho Power, this is all "normal," and nobody should panic. We learned that up to 50% power fluctuations can be expected during an inversion.

That's certainly inconvenient.
