24/7 Tempo used data from the CDC to determine cities with the number of cases reported in hospitals in the week of "August 27th to September 2nd per 100,000 residents."

They determined that Moscow ranked 6th in the list of top college towns that are COVID hotspots. Moscow, home to the Idaho Vandals, has a "total college town population" of 25,336, and 34.5% of the town's population is enrolled in "college or graduate school according to 24/7's data.

According to their study, "estimated new weekly COVID-19 hospitalizations are 10 per 100,000 residents in a hospital service area."
