Comfort food. Everyone has their comfort tastes or the food that makes you feel like you're at home. For me, it's Mexican food and we have a new home spot in Boise.

Jalapeno's Bar & Grill is opening their third restaurant on Broadway very soon. This family Mexican is run by some of my favorites sisters, Valdivia, and Leticia McLaughlin.

I moved to Boise about 11 years ago and remember my first meeting with my Jalapeno's family. I'd been living in the Treasure Valley that time for almost two years and I was in the middle of our child abuse prevention campaign, Live for 175. I ran 7 marathons in 7 days that year and somewhere on the 4th day I met everyone at Jalapenos with so much love and support.

That's my spot if I'm ever in Nampa and when I'm in Boise I visit the Jalapeños on Franklin Blvd. I grew up in Texas and our comfort food wasn't what you might think. I've realized that the route to our foodie happiness was always Mexican food.

My wife always says that I'll take any food and add one thing to make it a Mexican dish. She's right 🌮I just happen to come across the signs that read, "Jalapeño's Bar & Grill Coming Soon" and had to search for more details. Michael Deed's from the Idaho Statesman wrote something last week that detailed an opening in mid-December and a full launch in January.

Will this location work? I've heard it's almost impossible for no special reason. The Tap and Cask most recently closed and before that, it was the Tilted Kilt. I'm gonna go all in on the Jalapeño's brand killing it at that location. If anything, I'll be spending a lot of time there!

Good luck sisters!
