When surveys come out about our state, I get so nervous because they're speaking on my behalf and creating a reputation for us. As silly as this sounds, I'm not convinced SO MANY people actually hate this food in Idaho.

Depending on where you're taking a survey, I can see getting a lot of people to say that they truly dislike kale. The texture is rough and it has a bitter-ish taste. If you move far enough away from places that sell kale, you'll find people who dislike it. See where I'm going with this?

Do you hate the same foods as the people in your state?

Every time I read about a state making a "we hate ______" declaration, my eyes would roll. Then I'd ask myself "Do they really hate this?"

  • Montana hates pumpkin spice anything. But do they? I have a friend in Montana and she downs those lattes like water.
  • Oregon hates fast food. Let's talk about what's legal in Oregon and you're telling me that fast food is a most hated food? Nah, it can't be.
  • Florida hates licorice. Think of all the grandmas and grandpas who have homes in Florida and all the old black licorice hanging out in glass bowls on kitchen counters.
  • Idaho. Let's talk Idaho. We hate dim sum. Do we? I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had a super-passionate conversation about dim sum. Not once has that been in a negative way. To be fair, I don't feel like my life determines the likes and the dislikes of food in our great state but I do believe we could find something else.

Let's do it, wanna?
