You work hard all year to rack up your vacation days.

If you live in Idaho, they're likely going to waste.

For most working class employees, we'll accrue ten vacation days per year. We can spend those traveling, enjoying time with family, or just relaxing at home without having to worry about work. 54% of working Americans will let a portion of those vacation days go to waste every year, using nine or less. In Idaho, that number is staggeringly higher.

On average, 78% of Idahoans say they avoid using all their vacation days. That means three out of four of us don't take full advantage of the time off we've received. But why?

One survey said that we don't use our vacation days due to fear of taking time off "citing economic worries." The catch is, when we don't travel, that can hurt the tourism economy. The same study said we're missing out on $128 billion dollars per year in lost tourism spending due to employees not taking advantage of their vacation days.

What can we take away from this? Take a vacation! It's good for the mind, good for the soul, and good for the economy.
