On Saturday, May 13th, Garden City Police responded to a shooting outside of Westy's Bowling Alley in Garden City. Three suspects were discovered at the scene, two of which were said to have open-fired in the parking lot around 11:30 p.m.

We now have an update on the three suspects and the shooting victim.

First off, we're very happy to report that the 17-year-old female victim who was struck with a bullet during the gunfire is currently recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. We're sending all our energy to her and her family.

The three suspects? They're going to fare off much worse. As of yesterday, May 16th, three men have been arrested stemming from the shooting over the weekend. While their fate waits to be seen, we can't imagine it'll be anything ideal for the three lawbreakers.

My question is this: All jokes aside, what provokes someone to so much anger during a game of bowling that they're driven to violence? Life-threatening violence at that!?

No jokes here. It's well known that life in 2023 is stressful for all of us. If you're not facing money problems, career problems, or health issues, then you may be living in a simulation. Is life truly that bad for so many right now that our anger immediately drives us to lash out with violence?

I hope not. Going to a bowling alley, a mall, or an outdoor event should be a joyous, safe occasion for all. Let's all try to be a little more kind, set a good example, and keep our favorite recreation spots safe.
