What Happened to the RAM Restaurant in Boise?
A few weeks ago, I made myself a promise. If I'm going order out for lunch every single day, I'm at least going to force myself to walk to the food. During that walk, I notice quite a few signs hanging in and around the Boise RAM Restaurant location.
Thanks to the construction on The Addison apartments next door, the Greenbelt behind our office has been closed for the bajillionth day in a row so I had to take the detour to Qdoba. Normally, I walk up from behind The RAM, so I never see their front door but this detour dropped me off out front. I saw a sandwich board sitting in front of the stairs and red signs in the windows. There wasn't a single car in the parking lot closest to the restaurant. Did they close?!
The RAM's always been a popular spot for my friends and I to meet up for a run and grab a cold beer afterwards. I'd be devastated if they had called it quits without me ordering one more plate of nachos and a pint of Hometown Blonde to wash it down with. I had to investigate.

Turns out they ARE closed, but only temporarily. The only date the sandwich board listed was today, Monday, June 28.
So what were the red signs in the window? It looks like staffing has been an on-going issue at The RAM, just like it has been for other restaurants across the Treasure Valley. The signs explained that they are working with a smaller team than they prefer and asked for patience with the staff that continues to show up day after day.
Here's hoping they start to find enough interested staff soon! Boise State season is creeping up on us and the RAM is always slammed on game day. The season wouldn't be the same without stopping in there to grab a bite to eat and watching some of the day's other games before hoofing it over to Albertsons Stadium!
