Being one of the fastest growing cities in America, there are always new singles to meet in Boise! Sure, the traffic is a mess, housing costs are through the roof, but hey, at least it's easier to get laid, right?

Well, yes. But, it could come at a cost.

We can't believe we're writing this in 2023, but the Treasure Valley is the epicenter for a recent outbreak of syphilis. Yes, that syphilis. The STD one. As a matter of fact, cases are up 162% since 2018. That's a lot of unprotected bumpin' uglies, if you ask us.

Don't think it's just young people who are causing the spread. Oh no. Folks of all ages are gettin' it on and infecting others, according to epidemiologist Sarah Wright:

Since Jan. 1, 2022, we have had cases from 15-87 years old. So, it’s not just in these typical larger groups always, which is why we think it’s important to increase screening.

Symptoms of syphilis include swollen lymph nodes, joint pain, sores and rashes. Luckily, antibiotics can cure syphilis, but it can do some serious damage to your body if not treated in time.

Obviously, if you fear you're at risk of having recently contacted an STD, see your doctor.

The good news is, other states have it way worse than us! Yes, syphilis is spreading like wildfire in the Boise area, but in New York, things are much, much worse:
