Work-Life balance? What is that!? Work in the media long enough and you'll meet plenty of folks eager to be big stars that don't put in the work to make it happen. You mean that just doesn't come with "working" here? I guess it doesn't.  I've had the true honor of working in this radio business since I was 14-years old and I can't tell you how often I hear folks come into this world and complain about the alleged lack of work-life balance.  I still can't believe we get PAID to do THIS....as I always say: I'm glad that I don't have a real job!!

How is the work-life balance in YOUR life or professional line of work? Do you feel like the Treasure Valley is conducive to a healthy work-life balance?  According to a recent survey, Boise is among the best in the whole entire nation. That's something to be proud of!

In order to come to these results, the survey brought together walk scores, entertainment and recreation establishments, restaurant and housing costs, average incomes and hours worked per week, and more.

The TOP city for work-life balance in the entire country? Madison, Wisconsin. The survey shares:

For the second year in a row, Madison, Wisconsin is the best city in America for work-life balance. Madison doesn’t lead in any categories, but it does finish in the top 10% of the study for six out of 10 metrics. This includes coming in second-lowest for average hours worked per week (36.4), third-lowest for October 2020 unemployment rate (3.9%) and sixth-highest for labor force participation rate (73.2%).

I've never been to Madison but I've heard really great things for a long time!

So where does Boise rank? We come in at #14 in the whole country-- not too shabby as we're in the company of Austin, Texas, Raleigh, North Carolina and others!  I can't help but assume this has ALL to do with how many awesome activities there are here--and I mean that! There's truly something for everyone, year round. Be it arcades, gyms, outdoor activities or brewery and wine tours! As a LOCAL myself, I can say pretty confidently that Boise is a GREAT place to live, work, and find that balance.
