Always has put together a campaign that I think kicks total ass.  Ladies who have young daughters or nieces, you need to watch and share this video with them. Guys, you need to learn a thing or two from the video about telling us we do things "like a girl."

Even though it was 10 years ago, I can still hear my junior high track coaches words ring out just like they did in that day in our little maroon and white gym.  "Don't you ever let someone tell you 'You run like a girl.'  You smile at them and tell them 'No, I run like an athlete!'"  I took it for granted then, but being an adult I realize how powerful that message was for a group of 12-14 year old girls to hear.  Not going to lie, as I progressed through my high school track career one of my favorite things to do was to see how many of the boys I could beat when we ran a joint 3200 meter (2 mile) race.  I didn't run like a girl, I ran like me, I ran like an athlete...and I kicked their butts!

Always is trying to spread the same message that my track coach shared with our team by working with documentarian, Lauren Greenfield.  Greenfield put together this video to show the negative stereotypes attached to the phrase "like a girl" and how they disempower young women already trying to find themselves during puberty.  She hopes to redefine that phrase into a positive affirmation.  Check out her powerful short video!
