Trunk or treating has become the thing in Idaho over the last five years. I went maybe nine years back and witnessed the decorated car trunks with amazement. I really wondered, "How have I missed this?"

Halloween Tailgating! 🎃

That's the best way to describe Trunk or Treating! Communities come together for this "safe" trick or treating as groups. Trunk or Treating began in the church parking where families brought out their cars, decorated trunks of their cars, and put candy in them. Children walk vehicle to vehicle instead of houses. These types of trick or treating are starting to grow and the one in Meridian has been moved due to high volume in attendance.

Meridian's Trunk or Treat and Dance to the Beat 🎧

The city of Meridian has decided to move their big Trunk or Treat to line the streets of downtown Meridian. This is the 5th annual event and due to popular demand on the freakish event - moving was a must.

"The downtown core provides a fun atmosphere and lots of space for more businesses to participate, " says Renee White, Meridian Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator. "The new route is also clearer for trick or treaters."

You can expect over 120 decorated trunks, Halloween set-ups and hundreds of kids dressed in costumes yelling, "TRUNK OR TREAT!!!!!"

Entertainment - Dance to the Beat 👻

Meridian Police Officer David Gomez will be your DJ for the night including Ballet Folklorico performing Day of the Dead dances. There will be awards at the end of the evening for best-decorated trunks.

Attendees encouraged to bring non-perishable foods to help the Meridian Food Bank in time for the holidays.
