I've used many excuses to avoid going out for my run.  It's too hot and I'm dehydrated.  I've been on my feet all day.  I only got four hours of sleep last night.  Never, ever have I even thought of using what this new study considers a "barrier to exercise" as an excuse.

According to a study by the University of Portsmouth, one in five women say their breasts stop them from exercising.  Yup, your boobies were the fourth excuse not to exercise after lack of energy, time constraints and other health reasons.  They beat out the cost of gym memberships/exercise equipment, no access to facilities, not having the right clothes (wouldn't a good sports bra solve this problem?,) not having anyone to workout with or feeling embarrassed about doing the sport.

Now, I was not gifted with an especially large chest, so I thought maybe it was women with larger breasts that influenced the study.  Nope. The lead researcher said that the amount of physical activity the women participated in was not affected by breast size.  They did find that not having a proper fitting sports bra and being embarrassed by the girls bouncing played a role.

Like I said, I've never considered my breasts something that would deeter me from working out (although I admit to them hurting when I run during Aunt Flo's monthly visit.)  Have yours kept you from working out?
