Should Idaho Legalize Weed? New Study Says Yes
When it comes to teens smoking, a new study says that legalizing marijuana actually reduces teens' likeliness to smoke. A win, win?
A new Montana State University study claims that legalizing marijuana for adults has slightly reduced teenagers' odds of smoking pot in some states. Lead author Mark Anderson says that one reason for this surprising discovery is that it's harder--if not impossible--for teens to buy weed from licensed dispensaries than from dealers on a black market that could be drying up.
But Linda Richter, director of policy research and analysis at the nonprofit Center on Addiction, is suspicious of Anderson's findings, telling the AP, “There is plenty of research showing that the black market for marijuana is alive and well in states that have legalized recreational use."
So should Idaho legalize in favor of maybe lessening kids' chances of smoking?
