If you didn't know, April is recognized nationally as Child Abuse Prevention Month-- an important annual recognition of not only preventative efforts being made in our community, but of resources and services available to victims and survivors, as well. While our community is a safe one, it's important to understand that unfortunately, abuse still goes on in our community--it is cyclical--and it is up to each of us as individuals to stop it.

During this month, great organizations, businesses, and community organizations come together to raise awareness of the month and the things that it stands for.

There's an event for just about everyone--and spreading the word about any or all of them can certainly help the mission.

The theme this year, as explained by the Idaho Children's Trust Fund, is 'Pinwheels for Prevention'--the blue pinwheel has been the national symbol for Child Abuse Prevention since 2008 and this year, like all others, the pinwheels will represent a carefree childhood and remind adults of our responsibility to ensure children can thrive all across our community.
