If you would have told me years ago that I'd be living alone with my only child: a cat, I would have laughed at you. Growing up, I never had pets. Sure I always wanted one but I didn't really know what I was missing out on so it wasn't ever something I felt like I was missing.  Fast forward several years and some time away at college and here I am, a proud, single cat dad. Piccolo, my cat, is the coolest creature ever. She doesn't make any messes or scratch things up. She plays full-on fetch with me in the house and she's the most lovable animal ever. I definitely got lucky.  It's a joy to come home to her and yes--I'm still shocked I'm saying that. When I adopted her, she fit in the palm of my hand and was a "left over" from a litter of kittens because the people that were going to adopt her backed out for a "cuter kitten" they found online. How rude.

I saw all of the National Pet Day posts on social media this past Thursday and yes, I totally failed to post and brag about Piccolo. But I just feel like everyday should/could be National Pet Day?  Sure, I'm probably exposing too much of my soft side, but I've been through a TON with this little creature and I can't imagine life without her--how could someone live WITHOUT a pet!?

If you're in the market for a new pet or maybe you're looking for fostering opportunities, there's certainly plenty of ways for you to help right here in the Treasure Valley!
