Fireball Lights Up Treasure Valley Skies
I'm so bummed that I crashed out at 9:30 last night and missed all the excitement! Did you see the fireball in the sky last night?
Ada County dispatch started getting calls reporting the object in the sky just before 11 PM. Many people assumed that the fireball was a meteor breaking up in the sky, but according to a NASA ambassador in Utah it was probably a piece of space junk. It's very probable that the fireball was actually part of the rocket body of a Chinese satellite launched in December falling back down to Earth. The American Meteor Society has not issued a statement on the sighting at this time.
The bright light was seen here in Idaho, Washington, Utah and parts of Canada.
