June Marks Pride Month in Idaho and Beyond

June, typically, brings about some of our favorite things around 103.5 KISS FM.  Warmer temperatures, lots of outside events, concerts, Boise Music Festival and Boise Pride Festival.  In a "normal year", it is absolute CHAOS in June between putting on our own Boise Music Festival and then going ALL HANDS ON DECK the very next week with Boise Pride Festival.  This year, much like we've grown used to by now--is not "normal". While light at the end of this COVID-19 laden tunnel continues to shine brighter, our beloved Boise Music Festival has been canceled and out of an abundance of caution, Boise Pride Festival will now be held in September.

Just because our local pride week will be in the fall this year doesn't discount the fact that businesses are re-opening and events are happening. June, as you may know, just happens to be "Pride Month" across the nation and here in the Treasure Valley that is no exception. In fact, Boise Pride's first "official" event has been announced and it is happening in a matter of weeks!

On Saturday, June 19th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., there will be a "Drag Brunch" happening at 10 Barrel Brewing in downtown Boise. You can learn more about that event, HERE. This, of course, is just a taste of what's to come!

This year more than ever, a real need for love and acceptance is present in our city and across the nation. We've seen divisive rhetoric and heated political discourse in the past year unlike anything in recent history. This is what is so special about Pride Month, especially here in Boise where the events continue to grow and evolve: it's simply about acceptance no matter who you are, who you love, what your skin looks like, or what you believe in. It's an honor for all of us at 103.5 KISS FM to be a part of Boise Pride Festival and we can't wait to see you around the events this month!
