It's one of those stories we just aren't used to hearing about in the Treasure Valley: a SWAT team related standoff. Today, however, this was going on in Meridian and luckily, it ended safely.

According to Idaho's News Channel 7, a 53-year-old male broke into a woman's home in Meridian (on South Meridian Road) and threatened the woman (who had a no-contact protection order against this man) with a handgun. This was all going on around 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.

I have twitter alerts turned on for most police agencies here in the Treasure Valley and I was shocked to see developments like this coming up on my screen.

While the man fled from the house that he broke into, authorities did find him near Kuna some time later and spent several hours negotiating with him. After this time of negotiating, he was peacefully arrested and thankfully, nobody was injured or harmed during any of this.

Meridian Police announced the man had been arrested and the standoff was over around 8:00 p.m. this evening and at this time, the suspects identity and charges have not yet been released.  I checked out the arrest report for Ada County this evening and still--nothing has been logged for the suspect.
