They didn't waste any time.  Parts of the home were already gone by the time I went for a run last night.

Yesterday, the Simplot family announced that they would tear down the iconic "house on the hill" that's been vacant for the past decade.  The home used to belong to potato billionaire JR Simplot and was formerly the Idaho Governor's Mansion.

In a press release, the Simplot family explained that it would be easier for them to tear down the property than continue the upkeep on the empty house.  They plan to keep the United States Flag that flew proudly next to the home on the hill.  It's been taken down until demolition is complete.  The Simplots will continue to maintain the land the house once stood on, but there are no immediate plans for the site.

By the time I went for my run on Bogus Basin Road last night, parts of it had already been taken down.  It's expected to be completely gone in 10 days.  I'm so sad to see this old home go.
