Many believe that Jesus is the reason for the season, but according to this billboard the other face of Christmas that's not true.

This American Atheists billboard appeared in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Colorado Springs, Co and many religious groups are outraged that's it up in their hometowns.  They say that Christmas is the time to recognize the need for a savior and that's why people go to church to celebrate Jesus's birth on December 25th.

The masterminds behind the billboard say that they put it up because they want people to know that going to church has absolutely nothing to do with being a good person.  American Atheists' president went on to say that spending time with loved ones, charity, and being merry during the Holiday season have nothing to do with religion.

I grew up in a Catholic family and my mom still works at the church in my hometown.  I'll be the first to admit that I don't go to mass on a regular basis, but I was a bit taken aback when I saw this billboard.  I can see the logic behind it, but in predominately Christian community I think it's inappropriate.  But that could be my Catholic guilt talking...
