Well, this is f****** news to us.

To get right to the point, are you going to get arrested and thrown in jail for saying "What the hell, dude?" to your buddy while at a public crosswalk somewhere in Idaho? No. Probably not.

But could you? Technically, yes.

We don't want to mislead you into thinking that you absolutely cannot swear in public in Idaho, because that's not the case. However, there are some instances where using lewd language and/or profanity could get you into some trouble with the police.

According to the Idaho Legislature, Title 18, Chapter 64: RIOT, ROUT, UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY, PRIZE FIGHTING, DISTURBING PEACE:

Every person who maliciously and willfully disturbs the peace or quiet of any neighborhood, family or person, by loud or unusual noise, or by tumultuous or offensive conduct, or by threatening, traducing, quarreling, challenging to fight or fighting, or fires any gun or pistol, or uses any vulgar, profane or indecent language within the presence or hearing of children, in a loud and boisterous manner, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

That's right. If you do find yourself in public screaming profanities at the top of your lungs, you could be found guilty of a misdemeanor in the state of Idaho. That could mean fines, jail time, and worst of all, get in trouble for swearing. You'd have to be so embarrassed.

Something that most definitely will still get you in trouble in Idaho? Burglaring. Being a burglar? We're not sure. But police are on the lookout for this perp!
