Somewhere between journalism and activism.  That's how the co-director/producer of a new documentary focused on the Idaho's "Add the Words" campaign describes his short film making debut at the Egyptian Theater on Sunday evening.

According to KTVB, Michael Gough and Cammie Pavesic started working on their film the day after 44 people, including former Senator Nicole LeFavour, were arrested for blocking the senate chambers.  Over the next few days, they gathered enough footage to take what was supposed to be a 10-20 minute video and turn it into a full length film.  The documentary gets up close and personal as activists work to have the words "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" added to Idaho's legislation regarding discrimination in the workplace and housing.

As a white, straight male going into the film, Gough had no opinion either way on the Add the Words campaign, but after talking with people involved in the movement and confronting any internal prejudices he held, Gough ended up agreeing with the movement.

Here's a trailer for the film.  Personally, it brought me to tears.  When I talk to my friends from back home in Ohio, I usually brag about how awesome living in Idaho is, but the man in this trailer made me so sad because it shows how intolerant some people are.
