Heartburn is somewhat of a foreign thing to me, but I know people who have it really bad and it affects their daily lives. I don't think I've ever had it, but if you're someone who struggles with heartburn and you take medication for it- you're going to want to check your medicine cabinet and see what type you're using.

Rite-Aid and Walgreens have joined CVS in pulling the popular heartburn medicine Zantac, as well as its generic counterpart, from store shelves across the U.S., NBC News reports.

The Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about the prescription and over-the-counter versions of the medication last month, saying it may contain a potentially dangerous contaminant.

The FDA said it detected low levels of a probable cancer-causing chemical known as NDMA, the same chemical that has been linked to recent recalls of prescription blood pressure drugs.

CVS announced the recall over the weekend, saying it was making the move "out of an abundance of caution," and Rite-Aid and Walgreens followed suit Monday and Tuesday. The company that makes Zantac, Sanofi, said Monday it's working on its own investigation.
