Around here Tuesday’s are just as great as Friday’s except for we actually have to come back to work the next day. What I’m saying is that we really do enjoy Tuesday’s and maybe more so than we should.  You may be asking why? The simple answer is TACOS!!! Every Tuesday Mateo and I embark on a Journey to find the treasure Valley’s best tacos and most weeks we’re pleasantly surprised. Before we go any further allow me to state my disclaimer / mission. We do not accept free food because the purpose of the Taco Tuesday review is to give the KISS-FM listeners an unbiased opinion. If we accepted free food we may feel obligated to give someone a more favorable review and that violates the purpose.

This week we decided to visit a very popular local spot that has been in Idaho since 2006. We visited the Jalapeno’s location on Broadway. The restaurant was clean and the service as good. We ordered our customary Carne Asada, Pollo Asado (chicken) and since they didn’t have Adobada we chose a Carnitas taco to round out our trio. The tacos were served basically naked, protein, a tortilla and a side of pico de gallo. Honestly, it was underwhelming until Mateo asked for salsas on the side. The server brought out a green as well as an habanero salsa. Upon adding the salsa and some lime the tacos were transformed and went from bland tortilla wrapped protein to flavor full tacos. Mateo was more than halfway through his tacos before the transformation so he scored Jalapeno’s 3 out of 5 tacos.  I give the longtime local spot a 3.50 on a scale of 5 tacos.
